WASHINGTON — Heritage Action, a national conservative organization with two million grassroots activists nationwide, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson praising The Heritage Foundation’s newly released Election Integrity Scorecard:
“In 2021, Heritage Action announced that, for the first time, it would engage in state legislative advocacy and grassroots work. We launched an initial two-year $10 million election integrity campaign, taking the principles laid out in The Heritage Foundation’s election integrity best practices and equipping grassroots activists to work with their state legislators to secure their states’ elections. That army of grassroots activists accomplished a tremendous amount, working hard in states like Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Texas, and others to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.
Now, in the coming year, Heritage Action and our two million grassroots activists will use The Heritage Foundation’s Election Integrity Scorecard as a roadmap to secure election integrity reforms in states across the country in upcoming state legislative sessions. Our activists will be able to use the roadmap to election integrity to go back to their legislators and advocate for further election integrity reforms, pointing out where their state has succeeded and where there is room to improve. The scorecard represents the single best resource for Americans in all 50 states to understand election integrity laws and advocate to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat in their state.”
Background:
In March, Heritage Action announced an initial investment of $10 million into a state grassroots campaign to advocate for election integrity reform in eight key states. Heritage Action activists drew from The Heritage Foundation’s list of best practices and successfully advocated for reforms including voter ID requirements, prohibitions on private funding of election officials and government agencies, citizenship verification, and more. Heritage Action initially announced a $600,000 TV ad buy to support lawmakers as they worked to secure Georgia’s elections in March, ahead of the passage of SB 202, while Heritage Action activists worked with their legislators and governor’s office to support the legislation. Heritage Action then launched a $1 million ad campaign after passage to support the bill. In July and October, Heritage Action slammed woke MLB executives in six-figure TV ad buys defending the state’s Election Integrity Act from misleading attacks by the Left.
In March, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed into law a bill to strengthen Arizona's election laws and promote election security. This bill features policy recommendations issued by The Heritage Foundation and was presented to the Arizona state legislature by Heritage Action Sentinel Ron Ludders.
Heritage Action Sentinels appeared at committee hearings and legislative sessions nationwide, including hundreds who registered and testified before committees in Texas.
