WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative organization with 2.5 million grassroots activists, including thousands of Wyomingites, applauded the Wyoming Legislature and Governor Mark Gordon for significantly boosting the state’s election integrity by passing and enacting HB 0337, legislation that bans foreign funding from being used to influence state elections.

Former Kansas Assistant Secretary of State and Heritage Action Director of State Advocacy Catherine Gunsalus released the following statement commending lawmakers for securing state elections:

“Wyomingites deserve to have their voices heard at the ballot box without foreign interests influencing voters and affecting election outcomes. Wyoming's passage and signing of HB 0337 is a major milestone in strengthening the integrity of the Cowboy State’s elections by making it easier to vote and harder to cheat.

“Heritage Action commends Wyoming lawmakers for protecting Wyomingites from being disenfranchised and ensuring their interests are prioritized above foreign billionaires. We thank Governor Gordon for signing HB 0337 into law and look forward to working alongside grassroots Americans to secure their states’ elections and ban foreign funding.”

With the passage of HB 0337, Wyoming becomes the first state this year to send a foreign funding ban bill to a governor. In 2024, Ohio passed HB 1 to ban foreign funding from its state elections.

Prior to the passage of HB 0337, Wyoming ranked 33rd out of 51 on The Heritage Foundation’s Election Integrity Scorecard.
