WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Oklahomans, released the following statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson commending the Oklahoma Senate for passing S.B. 613, legislation that prohibits physicians and medical professionals from performing experimental cross-sex hormones and surgeries on children under 18 years old.
“Children struggling with gender dysphoria need compassionate care, not dangerous puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or life-altering operations. Not only do these procedures fail to address underlying mental health issues, but they also cause irreversible physical and psychological damage that children are forced to deal with for the rest of their lives. Thanks to the Oklahoma Senate’s vote to approve S.B. 613, the Sooner State is one step closer to protecting children by banning this cruel practice.
Heritage Action thanks Senator Julie Daniels for authoring S.B. 613 and applauds Governor Stitt for leading the charge to protect children from irreversible abuse and amputations. We look forward to working alongside grassroots Oklahomans to further advance legislation on this issue.”
