WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson supporting Oklahoma Governor Stitt’s calls for a statewide ban on all gender transition surgeries and hormone therapies for minors.
“The Left’s radical gender ideology has become so extreme that Left-wing groups are now calling for experimental gender transition surgeries and dangerous hormone therapies to be performed on our nation’s children. Thankfully, conservatives like Oklahoma Governor Stitt are standing up and protecting our children by calling for a statewide ban on this practice for minors.
We don’t allow children to watch R-rated movies, purchase tobacco, or drive a car because we understand they are still developing and maturing as people. The same logic should especially apply to any life-changing, irreversible medical decision. Studies suggest that, after sex reassignment surgery, transgender-identified people are nearly 20 times more likely to die from suicide than the general population. Additionally, up to 98% of children who struggle with their sex as a child come to accept their biological sex by adulthood.
