North Carolina General Assembly Overrides Governor Cooper’s Veto and Scores Victory on Election Integrity

Press Releases · Oct 10, 2023

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of North Carolinians, released the following statement from Executive Vice President Ryan Walker commending the North Carolina General Assembly for overriding Governor Roy Cooper’s veto of SB 747, which strengthens election integrity by preventing private individuals and organizations from funding North Carolina’s election operations.

“SB 747 will help keep elections in North Carolina fair and free of manipulation. This critical legislation strengthens election integrity by preventing private individuals and outside organizations from funding the state’s election operations, continuing North Carolina’s leadership in achieving conservative policy victories.

This has already been a historic legislative session for the North Carolina General Assembly. State lawmakers have worked together to fight Governor Cooper’s extremism and ensure policies are in place to protect life, promote education freedom, secure elections, reject ESG, and more. Heritage Action commends the General Assembly for overriding nineteen of Governor Cooper’s vetoes this year alone. We look forward to working alongside grassroots North Carolinians to build on this progress.”
