Heritage Action Applauds Kansas Legislature for Putting Children Over Politics

Press Releases · Feb 18, 2025

WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative organization with 2.5 million grassroots activists nationwide, including thousands of Kansans, praised the Kansas Legislature for overriding Governor Laura Kelly’s veto of Senate Bill 63, legislation that protects children from radical gender ideology.

Former Kansas Assistant Secretary of State and Heritage Action Director of State Advocacy Catherine Gunsalus released the following statement:

“Experimental surgeries and dangerous cross-sex hormones cause permanent physical and psychological damage—they should be banned for children at all costs. Radical progressives like Governor Kelly ignore the risks and biological facts in favor of pushing an agenda that puts children in harm's way.

“Heritage Action applauds President Masterson, Speaker Hawkins, and the Kansas Legislature for defending children and overriding Gov. Kelly’s veto of SB 63. We will continue to work alongside the grassroots to combat gender ideology nationwide.”
