WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released a statement from Acting Executive Director Ryan Walker ahead of the House’s full consideration of the FY24 NDAA.
“Through consideration of the FY24 NDAA, Congress has an obligation to block Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s illegal pro-abortion policy and reestablish the integrity of the DoD’s mission to provide military readiness needed to deter war and secure our nation. Members of Congress still have an opportunity to block the Biden administration’s pro-abortion extremism, de-politicize the NDAA, and ensure a ‘clean’ NDAA can move forward.
Heritage Action supports efforts to amend the NDAA during the Rules Committee process and include language to prevent the DoD from using taxpayer money to facilitate abortions for service members and their families. Heritage Action also supports the Jackson/Roy measure if it is considered as a standalone amendment on the Floor and would include a ‘YES’ vote as a key vote on our legislative scorecard.
The American people expect the military to focus on effective combat and warfighting – not fighting culture wars. Blocking the Biden administration’s policy and preserving America’s decades-long policy of preventing taxpayer dollars from funding abortions is nonnegotiable for conservatives. Without the inclusion of language to roll back this far-Left policy, Heritage Action would oppose final passage of this year’s NDAA.”
