WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, commending the Senate passage of S.B. 1001 and calling for swift House consideration of the bill.
“Arizona parents know they are the best advocates for their children, not school boards or administrators. By passing S.B. 1001, the Arizona Senate has taken an important step to restore parental rights and protect children from the Left’s radical gender ideology. This legislation would ensure school districts only address students by pronouns consistent with their sex without written parental consent and protect school employees from violating their religious or deeply-held beliefs.
Girls and boys struggling with gender confusion need compassionate care and parental guidance. Taking parents out of the decision-making process only makes the problem worse and sets up children for potentially irreversible psychological and physical harm. Especially after examples of this problem have occurred in communities across Arizona, including the Scottsdale Unified School District, the House must act quickly. Heritage Action thanks the Senate for passing this legislation and encourages the House to continue Arizona’s leadership in the parental rights and education freedom movement.”
