Next week, the House will attempt to extend the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program. H.R. 2832, the Trade Adjustment Assistance Extension Act of 2011, would restore and solidify much of the stimulus-level expansions. Numerous evaluations have found TAA, which dispenses generous benefits for just a fraction of the unemployed, is ineffective in raising the wages of participants.
Heritage Action opposes Trade Adjustment Assistance and will include the bill as a key vote in our scorecard.
