"NO" on Minibus Appropriations Measure
This week, the House will vote on a conference agreement on a minibus appropriations measure (H.R. 2112) that includes the regular appropriations for Agriculture, Commerce-Justice-Science and Transportation-Housing and Urban Development.
The minibus also allows the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to originate mortgages up to $729,750, up from $625,000. It not only increases taxpayer exposure to more potentially bad mortgages and reduces opportunities for the injection of private sector capital into the housing market, but also may lead to a taxpayer bailout of the FHA.
Heritage Action also opposes the funding levels. The minibus includes at least $13 billion more in spending than sanctioned by the House-passed Ryan budget, which proposed sweeping changes that would set our nation on a more sustainable and prosperous course.
Heritage Action opposes this minibus appropriations measure and will include it as a key vote on our scorecard.
