Trump Administration Protects Life, Defunds Abortion Providers

Press Releases · May 18, 2018

Washington—This morning, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the Trump administration would re-establish a Reagan-era rule that blocks recipients of Title X funding from 1) referring pregnant women to abortion clinics, and 2) operating under the same roof as an abortion clinic. Grant recipients would be required to maintain a strict financial separation between family planning programs and abortion services as well. Once implemented, the rule would effectively ban Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics from receiving federal funds through Title X. Heritage Action released the following statement from Chief Operating Officer Tim Chapman:

The Trump administration deserves tremendous credit for protecting the sanctity of life and ensuring taxpayer dollars are not funneled to abortion providers. In 2016 Planned Parenthood received over $500 million in taxpayer funding that helped them conduct nearly 900 abortions every day. This announcement will help defend the innocent unborn victims in the womb who should be entitled to the same right to live as all of us.
