Washington—Heritage Action released the following statement from Executive Director Tim Chapman in reaction to the Senate’s failure to act to secure the border and the resulting partial government shutdown:
As negotiations continue amidst this partial shutdown, our elected officials should remember that the first duty of government is to defend its people and sovereign territory. Any spending agreement reached should put Americans first and make significant steps to secure our border.
