Washington—Today, the President announced a 21-day Continuing Resolution which, if passed, would end the partial government shutdown.
As Heritage Action has said from the beginning, there is no need for the government to shutdown. Congress has the responsibility, and the President has the mandate to provide adequate funding to secure our nation’s border and should do so swiftly, without partisan politics.
Over the past month, Democratic leadership has rejected multiple proposals to open the government and secure our border.
Over the next three weeks, the President and Congress should keep their promises to the American people to finally secure our nation’s southern border, and Americans should hold them accountable.
