The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action Announce #ProudAmerican Campaign

Press Releases · Jun 25, 2020

WASHINGTON—Heritage Action for America and The Heritage Foundation today announced the launch of the #ProudAmerican campaign, a community and social media campaign for Americans to share why they are proud of America and the nation’s founding principles.

The #ProudAmerican campaign will run through Independence Day on July 4. Each day, Heritage Action and The Heritage Foundation will feature selected #ProudAmerican posts and images from Heritage Foundation members and Heritage Action grassroots activists known as Sentinels.

The two organizations are asking individuals and organizations across the country to join the campaign and post about what being American means to them, perform acts of service, and tell family members about the principles of our founding.

“Now, more than ever, it seems we need to remind our fellow citizens why we are proud to be Americans,” added Jessica Anderson, executive director of Heritage Action. “The #ProudAmerican campaign will serve as that reminder. In recent months, America and its principles have come under assault from the media and cultural forces. But Americans are rightfully still proud of the timeless values of liberty and independence—the ideals commemorated in the Declaration of Independence.”

“This great country’s principles are as relevant today as any time in our history,” added Kay C. James, president of The Heritage Foundation. “The #ProudAmerican campaign unites citizens across the country to show that we live in the greatest nation in the world. There is no better time than now – a year in which our nation has been in nearly constant turmoil – to gather around our shared belief in the ideas that have made us who we are. Let us all join together and thank God for the blessings of life, liberty and prosperity that we enjoy as Americans.”

In addition to gathering Americans’ stories and promoting the campaign on social media and in the press, the campaign will feature The Heritage Foundation’s headquarters lit up in red, white, and blue to honor the nation and its founding.
