Statement on the Senate’s Short-Term Continuing Resolution

Press Releases · Dec 20, 2018

Washington—Heritage Action released the following statement from Executive Director Tim Chapman in reaction to the Senate’s short-term continuing resolution, which will fund the rest of the federal government through February 8, 2019 and into a Democrat House Majority.

The American people have been clear—secure the border and put America first. This call took on new life through the campaign and Presidency of Donald Trump. Unfortunately, once again the Washington D.C. establishment has ignored the will of the people to the detriment of our nation’s security.
There is plenty of blame to go around. The Democratic Party has shamefully refused to acknowledge the very simple fact that a nation has a responsibility to secure its borders, siding with elite globalists against their own constituents. The Republican Leadership in Congress has failed to provide a coherent strategy to support the Administration’s goal of border security. Sadly, it appears that it is an open question as to whether the Administration will insist that this funding bill include border wall funding. The time for leadership is now.
The Republican-led House should vote to secure border wall funding before they adjourn for the year.
