South Carolina General Assembly Sends S. 39 Education Freedom to Governor McMaster

Press Releases · Apr 27, 2023

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of South Carolinians, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, commending the South Carolina General Assembly for passing S. 39, legislation that expands education freedom by giving thousands of students scholarships for alternative education options.

“Students across the Palmetto State deserve education options that best fit their academic needs. In the fight to expand education freedom, South Carolina families scored a historic victory with the General Assembly’s passage of S. 39, legislation that provides flexible education savings accounts to thousands of eligible students and gives families the ability to select the education options that fit their child’s specific needs to succeed in school.

For nearly a decade, Heritage Action and grassroots South Carolinians have helped lead the effort to give families access to the alternative academic resources that best fit students’ needs, and these years of hard work have paid off with the General Assembly’s passage of S. 39. We look forward to Governor McMaster signing this important legislation into law, and we encourage state lawmakers to continue the nationwide momentum promoting education freedom for America’s students by expanding student eligibility for ESAs in the future.
