Roskam seeks to delay Iran vote, expose side deals

Press Releases · Sep 7, 2015

Washington - This afternoon, Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) raised a question of the privileges of the House of Representatives to demand access to two side agreements negotiated between Iran and the international community. The Obama administration's failure to submit those side agreements violated the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, commonly referred to as Corker-Cardin. Heritage Action released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

"The Obama administration's willful disregard of the law should come as no surprise. Moving forward with a vote on the disapproval resolution right now would simply validate the administration's blatant disregard of the law. A vote on the Roskam resolution would put lawmakers on the record: do they believe the Obama administration complied with the terms of Corker-Cardin? Americans deserve to know."
