Washington—Heritage Action for America today released a statement today from Vice President of Government Relations and Communications Garrett Bess on a potential bipartisan COVID-19 relief bill.
Any COVID-19 relief bill that contains wasteful bailouts is a loss for the American people and will damage our recovering economy. Bailing out state and local governments and the post office or extending the $600 bonus unemployment insurance benefit would be doubling down on bad policy.
After passing trillions of dollars of coronavirus relief in the spring, some of which has not been spent yet, conservatives in Congress should oppose another trillion-dollar bill with harmful spending. Instead, leaders at the national, state, and local levels should focus on getting the nation back to work and reopening our society. That’s what the American people need right now.
