WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Oklahomans, released the following statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson applauding the Oklahoma Legislature’s passage of HB 1934, legislation that would expand education freedom by offering refundable tax credits to families with children who are homeschooled or attend private schools.
“Oklahoma families deserve the right to send their children to the education institutions that best fit their individual needs. Every child has unique learning abilities they should be allowed to explore without the constraints of a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Thanks to the leadership of Governor Stitt, Senate President ProTempore Greg Treat, and House Speaker Charles McCall, HB 1934 now gives families the flexibility they need for their children to thrive. This legislation offers income tax credits to families which they can use to educate their children how they please, in addition to historic investing in Oklahoma education.
No child should have to fall behind because they learn differently than their peers. Heritage Action applauds the Oklahoma Legislature for their incredible work to ensure education freedom for every student in the Sooner State and we look forward to this essential legislation arriving on Governor Stitt’s desk.”
