Washington -- Lawmakers are contemplating a path forward on the federal government's discretionary spending, which will expire in 32 days. Heritage Action released the following statement from vice president for communications and government relations Dan Holler:
"As Congress begins work on a continuing resolution, lawmakers must ensure the length of the funding measure does not necessitate a post-election session of Congress. It is unfair to the American people to allow unaccountable politicians to make consequential decisions in a lame duck session."
Throughout the appropriations process, Heritage Action evaluated each individual appropriations measure on the following three criteria: 1) level of spending; 2) funding of bad programs; and 3) exclusion of conservative policy riders. In addition to length, Heritage Action will use these criteria to evaluate any continuing resolution this fall.
