WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Missourians, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, encouraging the Missouri Senate leadership to pass SB 49, legislation that would protect children from harm by preventing physicians from performing experimental surgeries and administering cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers.
“Children struggling with gender confusion and dysphoria deserve compassion, not harmful medical experimentation that amputates healthy body parts, fundamentally alters natural hormones, and potentially causes sterilization. Senate Democrats are currently blocking Senate Bill 49’s path forward through a filibuster, but conservatives have another opportunity to continue the fight to protect children and parents on the Senate floor next week. This common-sense legislation would shield Missouri children from irreversible damage by preventing medical providers from performing experimental surgeries and administering dangerous cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to minors.
Especially following the alarming whistleblower reports coming out of the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, passing SB 49 should be an easy choice for Missouri lawmakers. Heritage Action encourages the Missouri Senate leadership to do the right thing and protect children from medical experimentation by passing SB 49 without compromise."
