Mississippi Takes Key Step to Protect Children from Dangerous Cross-Sex Hormones and Experimental Surgeries

Press Releases · Feb 21, 2023

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Mississippians, released the following statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson applauding the Mississippi Senate’s passage of H.B. 1125, legislation that would prohibit public funds going to medical professionals or organizations who provide dangerous cross-sex hormones and experimental surgeries to minors.

“Dangerous cross-sex hormones and experimental surgeries are not a compassionate solution for children struggling with gender dysphoria. These dangerous procedures both fail to address underlying mental health issues and also leave children suffering with irreversible psychological and physical damage for the rest of their lives. H.B. 1125 would protect Mississippi’s children by ensuring that there is no public funding for any physicians or organizations who provide these dangerous cross-sex hormones or perform surgeries that remove or permanently alter children’s healthy body parts.

Heritage Action applauds the Mississippi Senate for passing H.B. 1125 and looks forward to working alongside grassroots Mississippians to advocate for even more protections for our children. We encourage other states across the country to pass similar legislation to ensure that children receive the compassionate and medically sound care they deserve.”
