WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Mississippians, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, commending the Mississippi Legislature’s passage of HB 1310, legislation that gives the Secretary of State the ability to audit all 82 counties and improves citizenship checks and voter list maintenance activities.

“Election integrity measures that make it easy to vote and hard to cheat are vital to the free and fair elections process. With some cities across the country attempting to grant non-citizens the ability to vote, it’s important that states like Mississippi uphold election integrity and ensure that only those who are Mississippi citizens are able to vote in their elections. With the Mississippi Legislature’s passage of HB 1310, legislation that allows the Secretary of State to audit Mississippi’s election results in all 82 counties and improves citizenship checks and voter list maintenance procedures, the Magnolia State is one step closer to solidifying its election integrity.

Heritage Action commends the Mississippi Legislature, Secretary of State Michael Watson, Senator Jeff Tate and Representative Brent Powell for their work to pass HB 1310. We look forward to Governor Reeves signing this bill into law. We will continue working alongside grassroots Mississippians to ensure elections remain free and fair in the state so that every citizen can have their voice heard.”
