Left’s Unwillingness to Negotiate with Conservatives in Omnibus Debate Highlights Need for Short-Term Continuing Resolution

Press Releases · Dec 22, 2022

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson following the debate over amendments and passage of an omnibus funding bill in the Senate.

“Heritage Action applauds the Senators pushing for conservative priorities in an end-of-year omnibus package, like the removal of earmarks and common sense border security measures. These last minute debates, however, only further underline the need for a continuing resolution into the first quarter of 2023 instead of a massive lame-duck spending bill.

This bill ignores the main problems facing the American people, and in nearly every way makes them worse. If the Left is unwilling to work with conservatives on major issues like border security and inflation, or even consider a simple amendment to include Title 42 in the bill, it is clear they should not be trusted to represent the American people in an omnibus spending package.

Heritage Action urges all members to vote against the omnibus package and demand a continuing resolution into the first quarter of 2023.”
