WASHINGTON — Today, Heritage Action, a conservative organization with two million grassroots activists nationwide, including thousands of Arizonans, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson thanking Governor Ducey for signing HB2492 into law and Representative Hoffman and the legislators who supported these reforms to ensure that only citizens vote in Arizona’s elections.
HB2492 is a common-sense, necessary safeguard to protect Arizona’s elections and ensure that only ballots cast legally are counted. This new law improves the accuracy of Arizona’s voter rolls while strengthening safeguards against noncitizens voting.
Arizona is reasserting the state’s constitutional powers over elections with this law by requiring that state voter registration applications are only accepted for those who provide Documentary Proof of Citizenship (DPOC). HB2492 is a victory for the voters of Arizona who can have confidence that these reforms help make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.
