WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with 2.5 million activists nationwide, today released the following statement from Executive Vice President Ryan Walker applauding members of Congress’ movement toward a budget reconciliation plan to accomplish President Trump’s top legislative priorities:
“As Congress debates and initiates the budget reconciliation process, they must recommit to fulfilling promises made to the American people. This process presents a crucial opportunity for Congress to enact President Trump’s legislative priorities. Congress must provide resources to secure our border and make our communities safer, make key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent to bring economic certainty, create a roadmap to begin closing the Department of Education, unleash American energy independence to strengthen our national security, and dismantle the deep state. The budget reconciliation process must also be used to rein in government spending, reduce regulatory burdens and invest in policies that foster growth.
“Heritage Action commends President Trump’s leadership in upholding his commitment to halt the invasion at our southern border and begin mass deportations of violent criminals in the early days of his administration. Now, Congress must allocate the necessary resources to operationalize deportations, expand interior enforcement, stop non-profit organizations that facilitate illegal immigration, prioritize American workers, and guard against amnesty of any kind.
“Heritage Action commends the progress Congress is making in advancing President Trump’s key legislative priorities.”
