MEDIA ADVISORY

WHAT: Grassroots activists lobby their elected official to sign the discharge petition to force a floor vote on Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962)

WHERE: Key target district offices on Capitol Hill

WHEN: Wednesday, April 3, 2019, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Washington—Yesterday, Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), along with Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), announced the discharge petition for the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act will ripen next week, and will be filed on April 2. The following day, April 3, Heritage Action for America will host a grassroots fly-in to lobby members of congress who have not yet signed the petition.

Heritage Action has actively been working to build bipartisan support for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and calls on all members of the House to sign the discharge petition. 218 signatures on the discharge petition would not only force a floor vote and allow Americans to see where their member stands on this vital issue, but most importantly, take action to end infanticide.

Heritage Action released the following statement from Executive Director Tim Chapman:

For nearly two months, Speaker Pelosi has refused to schedule a vote for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This is bipartisan, commonsense legislation could save the life of a baby born after a failed abortion. The fact that Speaker Pelosi refuses to hold a floor vote on this bill tells us all she’s afraid of the American people knowing where their elected representatives stand on infanticide. This is not a pro-life versus pro-choice bill; this is a vote for basic human rights. Every member should sign the discharge petition as soon as it’s filed.
