Heritage Action Responds to Health Care Task Force

Press Releases · Jun 21, 2016

Washington - Today, the House Republican's health care task force released its policy recommendations. Last December, Speaker Paul D. Ryan promised to "show what we would do, what our ideal policy would be." Heritage Action released the following statement from chief executive officer Michael A. Needham:

"The House Republican Health Care Task Force's report shows that Republicans understand that a better health care system requires the repeal of Obamacare. Admirably, it proposes a number of patient-centered reforms to the employer and individual market, as well as a fundamental rethinking of the health entitlement programs - Medicare and Medicaid - that are driving our country deeper into debt and failing seniors and low income Americans. Of some concern, the plan, while vague, suggests replacing some of Obamacare's regulations with similar regulations at the federal level, and it proposes a new refundable tax credit without any discussion of how that new spending program would be financed in a post-Obamacare world. Heritage Action looks forward to working with House Republicans to continue the conversation on conservative health reforms that promote Opportunity for All and Favoritism to None."
