WASHINGTON — Today, Heritage Action, a conservative organization with two million grassroots activists nationwide, including thousands of West Virginians, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson praising the West Virginia Legislature for enacting SB 262, which protects West Virginia jobs and investments from discrimination against energy companies. The bill became law on March 30th.
Heritage Action thanks the West Virginia legislature for ensuring that state contracts with financial institutions are not based on radical, left-wing Environment, Social Governance (ESG) standards that hurt West Virginians and run counter to American values.
SB 262 makes it clear that West Virginia prioritizes its jobs and the interests of its citizens over political ideology and arbitrary woke standards. One out of every fourteen jobs in West Virginia, three times the national average, are produced by traditional energy. With SB 262, the state of West Virginia can bolster support for its energy jobs and employees by protecting state contracts from anti-energy financial institutions.
