Washington—Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed D.C. Circuit Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be an associate justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. Judge Kavanaugh is a supremely qualified candidate who is widely respected by his colleagues on the bench and will, based on his 12-year record, faithfully uphold the Constitution and interpret the law as-written.

Today the Senate confirmed an originalist judge to the highest court in the land. Judge Kavanaugh will approach the bench with humility and will be part of a movement to restore the Supreme Court to its proper role in our system of checks and balances. The court needs to rule, not reject the voice of the American people by legislating from the bench. Because the Democratic Party chose to obstruct, delay and adopt the politics of personal destruction, this almost did not happen. Thankfully, the majority of the Senate rejected these tactics and must continue to do so for the sake of our entire judicial system.”
