WASHINGTON — Today, Heritage Action key voted “NO” on the cloture vote on the motion to proceed to S. 2093, an amended version of S.1, the so-called “For the People Act.”

Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson released the following statement concerning the upcoming vote on S. 2093:

S. 2093, the new version of S. 1, would be a complete federal takeover of our elections, delivering more power than ever to federal politicians and bureaucrats to control elections in every state. This massive bill is filled with unconstitutional policies that would make our elections less secure, hijack America’s election processes, and destroy Americans’ faith in voting.

Senators should reject this and every other federal election takeover bill. Schumer’s S. 2093, the Stacey Abrams-endorsed “compromise” bill from Sen. Manchin, and H.R. 4 are attempts by the Left to federalize our elections and take power away from states to ensure Left-wing candidates stay in office. The bills are irredeemable. No matter what superficial changes Sen. Schumer or Sen. Manchin suggest, Americans know these are blatant attempts to rig the rules of our elections. Every Senator must vote no.
