Heritage Action Condemns Gov. Hobbs’ Veto of Fact-Based Bill to Define Sex

WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million activists nationwide, including thousands of Arizonans, released the following statement from Director of State Advocacy Catherine Gunsalus condemning Governor Katie Hobbs’ veto of SB 1628, legislation to protect children and female athletes by clearly defining sex:

“SB 1628 is only necessary because of far-Left politicians like Katie Hobbs and their obsession with injecting radical gender ideology into classrooms, locker rooms, and doctor’s offices. By vetoing a bill that clearly and accurately defines sex, Governor Hobbs is defying the will of Arizonans and the basic biological fact we all know to be true: Men cannot be women and vice-versa.

“Heritage Action is disappointed, but not surprised, that Governor Hobbs would choose factless politics over the wellbeing of Arizonans. We look forward to continuing the fight for common sense, women, and children in the Grand Canyon State.”

Gender ideology is the source of the belief that children can be born in the wrong body, reframing biology as something malleable and disconnected from inherent characteristics. From threatening the integrity of women’s sports and spaces, to harming children through dangerous cross-sex hormones and experimental surgeries, gender ideology has no place in American society.
