Heritage Action Celebrates Arkansas Continuing the Fight Against ESG

Press Releases · Mar 20, 2025

WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative organization with 2.5 million grassroots activists nationwide, including thousands of Arkansans, cheered the Arkansas General Assembly’s passage and Governor Huckabee Sanders’s signing of HB 1307, legislation that protects Arkansas from the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda by ensuring institutional endowments are not corrupted for political purposes.

Former Kansas Assistant Secretary of State and Heritage Action Director of State Advocacy Catherine Gunsalus released the following statement in support of Arkansas’s fight against ESG:

“Arkansas has become the latest state to push back against harmful ESG with the passage and signing of HB 1307, an important bill that protects Arkansans’ charitable giving, as well as funds managed and invested by state universities and government institutions for charitable purposes. Arkansans don’t want their hard-earned money funding left-wing policies and political activism against their will.

“Heritage Action commends State Rep. Mindy McAlindon and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders leading this effort to safeguard Arkansas, and for passing and enacting HB 1307. We look forward to continuing our work alongside grassroots Americans to eliminate ESG across the country.”

As the ESG movement threatens Americans’ finances by infiltrating corporations, institutions, and government entities, it’s more important than ever for lawmakers to ensure that asset managers are following through with their fiduciary responsibilities.

The passage and signing of HB 1307 made Arkansas the first state to lead on this issue in the nation.
