WASHINGTON — Heritage Action for America, a national conservative grassroots organization, today announced the winner of its inaugural Frontline of Freedom Award. Mr. Thomas Colbert, of Flowood, Mississippi, received the award at Heritage Action’s Sentinel Summit in Orlando, Florida, on November 11, 2021.

“I am honored to announce Mr. Colbert as the inaugural recipient of Heritage Action’s Frontline of Freedom Award,” said Jessica Anderson, Executive Director of Heritage Action. “Mr. Colbert was instrumental in supporting Heritage Action Sentinels, our army of grassroots activists, from the very beginning, when it was started in 2012. Mr. Colbert’s work has not only helped chart the course for Heritage Action, but it has also influenced the course of the entire conservative movement. Mr. Colbert has steadfastly supported his country, worked to grow the conservative grassroots movement, and stood at the Frontline of Freedom.

“I am immensely grateful to Heritage Action for the Frontline of Freedom Award,” said Mr. Colbert. “I have been a supporter of The Heritage Foundation for nearly 30 years, and of Heritage Action for nearly a decade. Heritage Action has had an immense impact on our country, and I am thankful I was able to help build its grassroots program, which now has 20,000 members across the nation fighting to preserve freedom in our country.”

A native of Mississippi, Mr. Colbert graduated from the University of Mississippi. He grew the Community Bank of Mississippi from one office in Forest, MS, to one of the state's most successful financial institutions, with a multi-state presence throughout the south. Mr. Colbert has been a long-time supporter of both The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action. He was one of the earliest supporters of the Heritage Action Sentinel Program, helping to start the program and grow the membership to 20,000 Sentinels, making it one of the premier grassroots organizations in the country.

“Among the ranks of those who take a stand for freedom, there are those few who make the frontlines their home,” Anderson continued. “These are the patriots who make their lives a testimony to the virtues of our nation’s founding principles. They are ever vigilant for the sake of freedom, ready to sound a rallying cry against any force that seeks to violate our liberties and dismantle our institutions. They are more than a member, a leader, who goes far above and beyond the call to duty. In light of all of these qualities, Heritage Action is honored to present the Frontline of Freedom Award to Thomas Colbert.”

The Heritage Action Frontline of Freedom Award is given to the Heritage Action member who best embodies the qualities of the Heritage Action ethos of patriotism, freedom, and vigilance.

Heritage Action is a national grassroots organization with nearly two million grassroots activists nationwide. Heritage Action, founded in 2010, advances the policies of our partner organization, The Heritage Foundation, and works to make them a reality.
