Heritage Action Applauds Signing of Texas Women's Privacy Act

Press Releases · Sep 23, 2025

WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with activists nationwide, including thousands of Texans, praised the signing of Senate Bill 8 into law, which protects women’s privacy by ensuring separate bathrooms for men and women in public schools, universities, and government buildings, and codifies the objective differences between men and women.

Heritage Action Texas State Director Rebekah Warwick released the following statement in support of SB 8:

“In a historic moment for women nationwide, Texas enacted legislation to implement policies that reflect what seems like common sense—that men and women are objectively different, and that women are entitled to both safety and privacy.
“Texas sets a precedent in rejecting the lie that is gender ideology, a lie which has only left American women vulnerable. State Sen. Mayes Middleton and Rep. Angelia Orr should be commended for their stalwart commitment to protect the women of Texas. We applaud the efforts of Texas House and Senate leadership, bill authors Sen. Middleton and Rep. Orr, their colleagues, and Gov. Greg Abbott to deliver a significant victory for the people of the Lone Star State.”

Heritage Action Sentinels worked extensively on this issue in Texas and Heritage Action launched an action center on SB 8, emphasizing that radical activists have long violated both the safety and privacy of women.

Background:

Gov. Abbott rightly included the protection of women’s privacy as agenda items for both the first and second special sessions of the 89th Texas Legislature. Senate Bill 8 finally passed the Texas House on Aug. 28, legislation that enforces separate bathrooms for men and women in public schools, universities, and government buildings, and codifies objective differences between men and women into law.

The Senate concurred with the House amendment to SB 8 on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and the bill was signed by Gov. Abbott on Sept. 22.
