Heritage Action Applauds Senators Who Blocked The Left’s Corrupt Politicians Act

Press Releases · Jun 22, 2021

WASHINGTON — Heritage Action released the following statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson responding to tonight’s cloture vote on the motion to proceed to S. 2093:

“Heritage Action thanks the Senators who voted to stop the Corrupt Politicians Act from coming for a vote on the Senate floor today. Today’s vote proves exactly why the Senate must preserve the filibuster and its 60-vote threshold, an essential part of stopping the Left’s radical agenda.

The Corrupt Politicians Act would be a disaster for election integrity, and is nothing more than an attempt to rig elections to keep Democrats in power. The American people saw through the Left’s anti-democratic election takeover and came out in force to oppose it.

Senators must continue to stand strong against the Left’s efforts to enact partisan power grabs that make it easier to cheat and harder to detect. The American people will not be deterred.”

Background:

  • In March, Heritage Action hosted a rally at the West Virginia State Capitol in Charleston with grassroots conservatives urging Sen. Joe Manchin to oppose the For the People Act (S. 1) and protect the filibuster.

  • 75% of Americans believe voters should be required to show photo identification such as a driver’s license before being allowed to vote (Rasmussen).

  • When voters are informed about this expansive legislative attempt to reshape American elections, only 28% support its passage (Honest Elections Project).
