Heritage Action Applauds Oklahoma’s Commitment to Free and Fair Elections

WASHINGTON—Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million activists nationwide, including thousands of Oklahomans, released the following statement from

Former Kansas Assistant Secretary of State and Heritage Action Director of State Advocacy Catherine Gunsalus praising the Oklahoma Legislature’s passage of HB 3156, a bill that promotes free and fair elections by banning the use of ranked-choice voting (RCV):

“Oklahomans want secure elections where they know the winning candidates are the ones who earned the most votes. RCV is nothing more than a gimmick used to confuse voters and advance agendas that are not in Oklahomans’ best interest. By banning the use of RCV in state elections, HB 3156 provides voters with assurance that their elections have the fairest outcomes.

“Heritage Action is proud to have worked alongside grassroots Oklahomans to get HB 3156 across the finish line, and we applaud lawmakers’ commitment to upholding free and fair elections in the Sooner State. We hope other states follow suit to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”

The Oklahoma Legislature’s passage of HB 3156 builds on the grassroots momentum to combat the Left’s attempts to implement RCV nationwide. By proactively banning RCV, Oklahoma is one of more than a dozen states working on legislation this year to secure elections and promote trust in our systems.

Oklahoma currently ranks 4th out of 51 on The Heritage Foundation’s Election Integrity Scorecard.
