WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of South Carolinians, released the following statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson commending the South Carolina General Assembly and Governor Henry McMaster for passing and enacting S. 474, legislation that protects the lives of unborn babies after a heartbeat is detected.
“The South Carolina General Assembly’s historic passage of S. 474 and Governor Henry McMaster signing it into law will save the lives of thousands of unborn babies every year who may otherwise not have a chance at life. This is a major victory for South Carolinians who believe in the sanctity of life and that children and families are the core of Palmetto State values. S. 474 protects the lives of unborn babies in the womb by preventing abortion providers from performing abortions after a heartbeat is detected.
All children deserve life, no matter their stages of development. Heritage Action commends the South Carolina General Assembly and Governor McMaster for defending life and enacting S. 474. We look forward to building upon the momentum of life wins around the country, including those in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and Nebraska, and working alongside grassroots Americans to get more life-saving legislation like this into law.”
