Florida House Stands for Parents’ Rights, Despite Fake News Misinformation Campaign Against HB 1557

Press Releases · Feb 24, 2022

WASHINGTON — Today, Heritage Action, a conservative organization with two million grassroots activists nationwide, including tens of thousands of Floridians, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson supporting the Florida House of Representatives on the passage of Florida's Parental Rights in Education Bill. HB 1557 provides much-needed transparency in public schools and gives parents the tools to decide what is best for their own children.

“The Florida House took a major step today to stop the sexualization of our children in their vote to advance HB 1557. This legislation rightfully puts parents back in charge of their kids’ education and protects children as young as five years old from being exposed to sexual content.

The Left has launched a full-out misinformation campaign against HB 1557, using their media allies to push a fake news narrative that smears supporters of the bill as bigots. Any media outlet calling the Parental Rights in Education Bill a ‘don’t say gay’ bill is deceiving the public and should issue an immediate retraction.

We urge the Florida Senate to quickly take up this legislation and send it immediately to Governor DeSantis’s desk for signature. Florida’s children cannot wait.”
