Dobbs Anniversary: Conservatives Must Continue the Fight to Protect Life

Press Releases · Jun 23, 2023

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson celebrating the one year anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, where the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution does not grant the right to abortion and returned to states the ability to decide their own laws regarding life.

“The one year anniversary of the Dobbs ruling celebrates a historic victory for life and family formation in the United States, with thousands of unborn babies saved every year. In the last year, conservatives have scored major life wins in roughly 26 states – including historic wins in Florida, Nebraska, and North Carolina – that have defended unborn babies and their mothers from the lifelong harm of abortion. Across the country, new protections are in place to defend babies who survive botched abortions, and thousands of unborn lives will be saved from the moment their heartbeats are detected and after the first trimester.

Conservatives have propelled nationwide momentum in the fight to preserve the sanctity of life in the post-Dobbs era, but there is still much more work to be done to ensure mothers and children are protected from the Left’s radical abortion extremism. As the Left pushes for abortion-on-demand policies, conservatives need to continue their work to protect life on the state and federal levels and in the courts. Approaching 2024, candidates must not shy away from this issue and make their pro-life positions heard loud and clear. Heritage Action looks forward to working alongside grassroots Americans across the country to stand up for life and continue the important work of protecting the unborn and preserving families.”
