WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, released a statement from Executive Director Jessica Anderson following the release of President Biden’s budget wishlist.
“President Biden’s budget request is more of the same failed policy that would set the country on a course for even more economic chaos and inflation. Adding $17 trillion in new deficits over the next decade, this budget request is neither sound fiscal policy nor accountable to the American people and their interests. Instead, this budget would continue the Left’s unsustainable trajectory of spending that has left Americans struggling to provide for their families and feeling uncertain about their financial futures. Now a political tool for the Left to push their partisan priorities and pet projects, the budget would put American taxpayers last by raising taxes, worsening inflation, and further crippling American energy producers.
The American people demand a change to this process and insist that Congress use the upcoming debt ceiling negotiations as an opportunity to restore fiscal sanity in the federal government. At a minimum, this must include capping spending at fiscal year 2022 levels and instituting programmatic cuts, reforms, and pro-growth policies to offset the debt ceiling increase. Any woke and wasteful initiatives like Green New Deal subsidies or DEI training programs must be rejected.
Any simple analysis of Biden’s reckless budget request shows that the Left is unserious about their claims to rebuild the economy or cut deficits. CBO’s deficit estimate for fiscal year 2024 alone is $1.85 trillion. Americans are counting on conservatives in Congress to hold firm on their demands for fiscal restraint and bring logic back to the budget process.”
