WASHINGTON — Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Arkansans, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, applauding the Arkansas General Assembly for passing HB 1789, legislation that combats the malign influence of the Chinese Communist Party by prohibiting state contracts with companies owned by the Chinese government.

“The importance of securing our nation from China’s growing threat cannot be understated. HB 1789 - The Technology Protection Act - protects the State of Arkansas from the outside influence of the Chinese Communist Party by preventing the economic coercion, industrial espionage, and invasion of privacy that increasingly characterize interactions between the United States and China in the economic sphere.

Providing for our common defense in the modern age means economic protections like the Technology Protection Act are nearly as important as preparing America’s Armed Forces. Citizens across the Natural State are grateful to Senator Gary Stubblefield and Representative Mindy McAlindon for leading on this legislation in the Arkansas Legislature. Heritage Action applauds the Arkansas General Assembly, and we look forward to Governor Sanders signing this legislation into law.”
