Arizona Legislature Strengthens Election Integrity, Passes HB 2552

Press Releases · Apr 5, 2023

WASHINGTON – Heritage Action, a conservative grassroots organization with two million grassroots activists, including thousands of Arizonans, released the following statement from Janae Stracke, Vice President of Field Operations, praising the Arizona Legislature’s passage of HB 2552, legislation that would preserve election integrity by prohibiting ranked-choice voting.

“Ranked-choice voting effectively disenfranchises voters by creating a confusing and complicated election process that oftentimes results in citizens’ ballots being cast for candidates they do not support. By passing HB 2552, the Arizona Legislature has worked to protect the state’s elections from the ranked-choice voting scheme being pushed by Left-wing activists and political operatives. The passage of this bill marks an important victory for election integrity in Arizona and serves as a model for other states across the country.

Heritage Action thanks the Arizona Legislature for passing HB 2552. We urge Governor Hobbs to sign this bill into law and protect Arizona’s elections from the significant problems associated with ranked-choice voting. Coupled with the Arizona Legislature’s passage of HCR 2033, which will appear on the 2024 ballot, this policy will be a key measure to ensure it is easy to vote and hard to cheat in the Grand Canyon State. We look forward to working alongside grassroots Americans across the country to strengthen election integrity and make sure every citizen’s voice is heard at the ballot box.”
