"NO" on McConnell-Reid Debt Hike Plan
In the coming days, the House and Senate may vote on the McConnell-Reid debt hike plan. There is no substantive difference between McConnell-Reid and a clean debt ceiling increase, which is irresponsible given our nation's fiscal trajectory. A clean debt limit increase is unacceptable and has already been voted upon and defeated. The McConnell-Reid version of a clean debt limit increase is a non-starter and must likewise be defeated.
Heritage Action opposes the McConnell-Reid debt hike plan and will include it as a key vote in our scorecard.
"SIGN" Rep. Walsh's letter Opposing McConnell-Reid
Congressman Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) will send a letter to Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor outlining his opposition to the McConnell-Reid debt hike plan. The letter is intended to show substantial opposition to McConnell-Reid, which is substantively no different than a clean debt ceiling increase. Such a proposal is irresponsible given our nation's fiscal trajectory. The U.S. House has voted upon and defeated a clean debt increase once and they should not vote again.
Heritage Action urges Members to sign Rep. Walsh's letter and will include co-signing as a key vote in our scorecard.
