"NO" on McConnell "Contingency Plan"
In the coming days and weeks, the House and Senate may vote on the McConnell debt "contingency plan". If enacted, the plan would immediately give the President the power to unilaterally hike the debt ceiling without any reforms, cuts or structural changes necessary to put our nation back on a path to fiscal sanity. As a co-equal branch of the government, Congress must not abdicate its duty to represent the will of the people.
Heritage Action is opposed to the McConnell contingency plan and will include it as a key vote in our scorecard.
