Heritage Action supports Lee Amendment #3021 and will include it as a key vote on our legislative scorecard
Heritage Action will key vote the following amendment to Senate “Minibus” H.R. 5895—Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act of 2019
Key Vote Alert: “YES” on Lee Amendment to repeal final “Waters of the United States” rule (#3021)
The Senate may vote on an amendment offered by Sens. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to H.R. 5895, the Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act of 2019. This amendment would repeal the final rule issued by the Engineers Corps and the Environmental Protection Agency, entitled ‘‘Clean Water Rule: Definition of ‘Waters of the United States.’’’ This rule is better known as the Obama Administration’s “WOTUS rule.”
Under the Obama administration, the EPA interpreted the definition of “navigable waters’” in such an extreme way that even a man-made ditch could be regulated under the Clean Water Act. Adoption of Lee’s amendment would repeal the harmful rule and empower farmers, ranchers, home builders, and businesses across the country to grow the economy while protecting property rights.
