Heritage Action for America released the following statement from CEO Michael A. Needham:
Despite claims of reform, the Senate farm bill threatens to push America deeper into debt and make Americans more dependent upon government. From farm subsidies to food stamps, the perverse incentives created from the federal "safety net" are painfully obvious. As the debate shifts to the House, Heritage Action will make the case that for Americans - including farmers - to prosper, we need real, market-based reforms, not a continuation of Depression-era policies.
