No CBDCs in America

My name is [NAME] and I am a constituent form [CITY, STATE].

I am calling to ask Rep. Kevin McCarthy to support Sen. Ted Cruz and Majority Whip Tom Emmer’s CBDC Anti-Surveillnce State Act. Without an explicit, comprehensive ban, a Central Bank Digital Currency or CBDC, could be issued by the government and even facilitated through my own bank. This digital currency gives the government too much power and creates a surveillance state.

A CBDC lets the government track every transaction — how much is spent and what is purchased. The government can’t be trusted with this power and information:

• The government could stop a payment from clearing and control what citizens are allowed to buy.

• The government could also use this information to target citizens based on their purchases.

It’s a level of financial totalitarianism that is extremely Orwellian, and it’s why communist China has embraced a CBDC.

Please urge Rep. Kevin McCarthy to oppose CBDCs, and cosponsor the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act (S. 3801 / H.R. 5403).
