Wasserman Schultz: Run On Your Own Record
According to a new CNN poll, 59% of Americans believe President Obama’s policies will fail. The pessimism in the President’s big-government solutions is well founded, and the American people can see the failures stemming from the so-called stimulus, Obamacare, overregulation and massive uncertainty.
It comes as a bit of a surprise, then, that Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said politicians should run on their own record.
People know that each of us that runs for office stands on our own record. It’s irresponsible for a political party to engage in that kind of demonization, particularly of the President of the United States. We all have to run on our own records…

There is just one problem; that is not the reelection strategy being pursued by President Obama’s team. From Politico:
In a move that will make some Democrats shudder, Obama’s high command has even studied former President George W. Bush’s 2004 takedown of Sen. John Kerry, a senior campaign adviser told POLITICO, for clues on how a president with middling approval ratings can defeat a challenger.
“Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney,” said a prominent Democratic strategist aligned with the White House.
And then there is this gem from USNews:
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, a chief surrogate of Barack Obama and leader of all Democratic governors, today said that the president’s 2012 campaign will run against a familiar face: George W. Bush.
One look at the numbers – 9.1% unemployment, 2.2 million jobs lost, one in nine homes are vacant – and it is clear why President Obama’s team does not want to run on his record.
