Schooling the Senate Establishment
Earlier this week, we alerted you that Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was going to make the Senate Establishment very uncomfortable this week. He definitely has! Senator Paul and others threw up procedural hurdles when the Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee tried to hold a truncated markup process, just days after receiving an 800-page education bill.
Not only did he use a procedural maneuver to shutdown the sham markup, he maintained that fight on the Senate floor.
Kudos to Senators Paul, Richard Burr (R-NC) and the others. Americans need to have a real conversation about local control of education, and this makes for a great start!
